Tyler Stanbridge had recently graduated with a two-year degree in Welding Technology and was struggling to find a job. Tyler, like many young people we see, had never worked and was lacking the work experience required of entry-level welders. A friend referred him to the Beaufort County NCWorks Career Center. Once at the Career Center and evaluating his options, Tyler decided to enroll in a new program the Region Q Workforce Development Board is offering called Maximize Carolina. In this class, students earn industry-recognized credentials and if they complete the training, a guaranteed interview with at least one of five local employers. Tyler thought this class and a connection to the local employers may help him find his way.
Little did Tyler know that the class would lead him to a career – just not in welding. Tyler completed the class earning a Silver CRC, his OSHA 10 card, and his Yellow Belt in Six Sigma. Tyler was offered a position with PAS USA as a Molding Inspection Operator 1. PAS USA is one of the five employers participating in the Maximize Carolina Program. In addition, PAS USA utilizes our On-the-Job (OJT) Program, so they receive a reimbursement of his wages while they “skill him up”! He is doing great and loving his new career!

If you are interested in the program Tyler completed, a recruiting event will be held on January 10, 2019 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Beaufort County Schools Ed Tech Media Center.
