Board seeks nominations

Each year, the Region Q Workforce Development Board seeks nominations from area partners and staff to recognize an Outstanding Youth, an Outstanding Workforce Development Professional, and an award for Excellence in the promotion of workforce development.

The Annie Mobley Award for Outstanding Youth in Workforce Development Programs recognizes a youth participant between the ages of 16 and 26 that has demonstrated community leadership skills or positive social behaviors and has made excellent progress towards the attainment of a high school diploma or equivalent, a successful work-based activity, or obtaining gainful employment.

The Dupont Davis Award for Outstanding Workforce Development Professional recognizes an individual who has made significant personal contributions to the workforce development system beyond the normal professional duties and responsibilities of their job duties.

The Sam Carson Award for Excellence in the promotion of Workforce Development recognizes an individual or group of individuals that have made significant promotional contributions to the workforce development system beyond the normal professional duties and responsibilities of providing services.

Nominees must be in the Region Q Service area and the Youth participant must be enrolled in our program. All nominations are due to the Region Q WDB offices by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019.

Award winners will be notified within 7-10 days and be recognized at the May 8th Workforce Development Board meeting.  If the selected winner fits within the established criteria of the Governor’s Awards, the nominator will be requested to submit the appropriate forms to nominate the same individual/entity for a Governor’s Award.    These nominations will be due to the Workforce Development Board prior to the April 30th deadline.
