Career Centers participate in Luggage of Hope!

Posted by:

NCWorks Career Centers throughout the Northeast have been participating in the “Luggage Of Hope” Program.  Luggage Of Hope provides a suitcase with some essentials to foster children as they prepare to go to their new homes.  The goal is for each Prosperity Zone to collect and disburse a maximum of eight new or slightly used luggage pieces and fill them with toiletries to be distributed to out-of-service homecare young adults across the state.

We plan to work with the statewide association, SaySo. SaySo- which stands for STRONG ABLE YOUTH SPEAKING OUT- is a statewide association of young adults aged 14 to 24 who
are or have been in the out-of-home care system that is based in North Carolina. This includes all types of substitute care, including foster care, group homes, and mental health placements.

The project has been on-going and will conclude on June 30.  Plans are that all luggage and essential items donated will go to children in the Northeast.  For more information, please click on the link below.  If you would like to donate, please feel free to drop off items at your local Career Center.
