Sam Carson Award Presented

The Region Q Workforce Development Board recently presented the Sam Carson Award to the NCWorks Martin County Career Fair.  The Sam Carson Award was created by the Region Q Workforce Development Board in December 2007 to recognize the outstanding efforts of the NCWorks Career Center, Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act program operator, or NCWorks Center partner in the counties of Beaufort, Bertie, Hertford, Martin, and Pitt which has demonstrated outstanding efforts in the marketing and promotion of the Workforce Development system.

The nomination form stated, “For the past 10 years, the NCWorks Office has hosted an Annual Job Fair in Martin County.  In 2015, a subcommittee was formed to address the deficiencies identified by employers and job seekers.  Adequate space, job seeker preparedness, employer/job seeker success, and community involvement were among a few of the issues the subcommittee innovatively addressed.  By customizing our development plan, the “Get the Life You Love” Job Fair and Career Expo became an ingenious way to meet the needs of both employers and potential employees.  The collaboration between Martin Community College, Martin County NCWorks, and Martin Enterprises has impacted the promotion of workforce development within the local NCWorks Career System and other workforce development programs by providing an opportunity for individuals to visualize the link between increased employer educational and vocational experience requirements.  “

We congratulate the many partners that make this Career Fair a success each year!
